How Does Social Distancing Work in a Gym?

From our partners at Escape Fitness:

Once allowed to reopen, how can gyms practice social distancing when the gym is such a communal space?

Amid the ongoing pandemic, strict social distancing measures have kept many gyms around the world on lockdown or operating under very strict guidelines.

The bottom line is that, like everything else, the fitness industry has been changed by the pandemic. But that doesn’t mean people are going to stop working out together. Gyms will just have to get creative to ensure safe workouts.

When gyms and fitness health clubs do welcome back their members, they'll need to have firm plans for what a reopened gym will look like in terms of social distancing, which will mean decreased capacity, among other things.

One size may not fit all, but the best way to keep people at the proper social distance is giving them the room to work out on their own, without bumping into other people or equipment.

That's where our gym design expertise comes into play.

Here's what social distancing could look like in a health club setting:

ALL ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT.

It’s not just about the workout. This gym design concept steps up the aesthetics with striking architecture, state-of-the-art functional fitness equipment, and it even features individual hand sanitizing stations.

Partition walls separate 6 individual workout spaces with an identical kit in each one.

There is a reception desk and consultation room at one end and changing rooms on the other. The best part? This beautifully designed facility offers plenty of open space for a socially-distanced, active workout.

A SOCIALLY-DISTANCED INDUSTRIAL GYM DESIGN CONCEPT
