SHOWCASE: CORNELL’S FRIEDMAN STRENGTH & CONDITIONING CENTER

With over 1,100 varsity athletes, the Cornell Big Red strength and conditioning program has its work cut out providing training programs tailor made for the muscular and metabolic needs of each sport.  The Friedman Strength and Conditioning Center, at 8,000 square-feet, is the Big Red Athletics training hub.  When we first started discussing the Friedman Center’s upcoming renovation it was clear that the strength and conditioning staff were looking for cutting edge equipment to maintain a sophisticated training regimen for their athletes.  Our answer: Keiser Pneumatic Strength.

Using air resistance technology, Keiser allows athletes to train fast and increase power.  By eliminating the momentum of a traditional weight stack, products like the Keiser Squat, Rack, Runner, and Functional Trainer, allow an athlete to complete reps with as much speed as they can muster, without risking injury.  Keiser is known in the professional sports world as THE training tool for increasing explosiveness and power in an athlete.  We were able to dedicate almost half of the room space with these state-of-the art pneumatic machines.

We rounded out the rest of the room with Powerlift racks and inlayed custom platforms, flush to wear resistant Ultra Tile rubber flooring to maximize floor space. An entire wall dedicated free weight benches and custom UMAX dumbbells give the room its finishing touches.
