Tom’s athletic prowess made him an NCAA All-American three times in his collegiate wrestling career. He then took that know-how and put it to use as the Head Wrestling Coach at Hofstra University for five years, where he teamed up with then Assistant Coach Rob Anspach. In 2011 he brought his experience to the ASF team in the New York City & Long Island area School market, and now the company has called on him to lead the charge in the northern Georgia and Alabama School market.
Tom plans to mentor both Rob, his successor, and Daren in their new roles.
Rob steps into Tom’s role in the NYC & Long Island area, having just completed his third season as Head Wrestling Coach at Hofstra and his 12th year on the Pride staff in 2013-14. Anspach concludes his Hofstra tenure (assistant and head coaching) having helped lead the Pride to a 136-86-6 dual meet record and 10 conference championships. In addition, he assisted in the development of 41 league champions and 76 student-athletes reached the NCAA Championships during his time on the Hofstra coaching staff. Of that 76, 15 have earned All-American honors.
A 2001 graduate of Hofstra, Anspach compiled a 69-51 record during his five-year career as a student-athlete with the Pride, and we welcome his leadership and tenacity to our team!
While attending the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Daren was a four time Southern Conference Champion in wrestling and a four time NCAA qualifier. Since graduating with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science, he has been the Head Assistant Wrestling Coach of UNC Greensboro and the Assistant Wrestling Coach from Appalachian State University. Internationally Daren is a bronze medalist from the 2005 Pan-American Games in Freestyle, a two time Olympic trial qualifier and a three time U.S. Open Greco All American. In addition to all of his accomplishments in 2013 he became a US Greco National Team Member and in 2014 he became a Greco World Cup Team Member. We’re excited to bring Daren’s knowledge and experience to our southern Georgia & Alabama and northern Florida School market!
